Damnoen Saduak (Means: Comfortable travel) is a district (Thai: Amphoe) in the Thai province Ratchaburi. The floating market - Damnern Saduak Floating Market - on a klong near the district office is its most famous destination, where locals and foreigners alike visit for relaxation, enjoying the local Thai culture, and Thai style shopping (lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers). Men and women travel on the river selling their wares; underneath their straw hat is usually a smiling face!
Leaving Bangkok early in the morning, 0700 hours, we arrive at the ferry boat pier and take a long tailed speed boat to the main part of the floating market. You may wander around the market on foot, or pay 150 baht extra to join a paddle boat, to buy any souvenirs, fresh fruit and other items you might wish to purchase. Whichever you choose you will have one hour to yourself at this point. It's open every day from early morning until noon. Although many tourists visit, they have kept much of its original authenticity.
We arrive in Bangkok at 13.00 hours.
We recommend this for a great Thai style half day out.
